Description

Please be advised that an International circuit between Perth and Singapore has failed.
There is a suspected cable fault on SMW3 S3.1 which is being investigated by the local carrier.
Please note: Previous faults of this nature have taken in excess of 4 weeks to restore.
Further updates will be provided when available.

SMW3 Cable Fault outage at 03 Sept./12:51 GMT, confirmed outage at Segment 3.3 (Perth-BU/Jakarta, instead of Segment 3.1 before), fiber break at 1.2KM from Tuas/Singapore Cable Station (between repater R345 & 346). Deep investigation and restoration still in progress.

Please be advised that Whilst SMW3 remains down, Vocus has completed an emergency change and begun routing traffic across ASC, connecting Australia and Singapore. This change ahead of the previously communicated ASC RFS date of the 14th of September has been made so as to immediately restore performance on our customer’s Australia to Asia traffic. These immediate performance improvements will be further bolstered once final preparations are completed to operationalise ASC for formal RFS on the 14th of September.

Please be advised that the Cable Ship is now at Batam for custom and inward clearance and is expected to arrive at the fault location on 22nd September 2018 to commence cable repair operations. The cable repair is expected to be completed on 25th September 2018, subject to sea and weather conditions.

Please be advised cable ship Asean Explorer has arrived at Merak Port (near fault site in Jakarta, Indonesia) for inward clearance.

The tentative repair window is rescheduled from 25-Sep to 28-Sep.

Cable ship Asean Explorer has recovered Perth end cable, cleared fault, tested and completed first splice.

Currently, final splice is in progress.

Tentative repair completion date is still on 28th September late night.

Please be advised that Vocus has confirmed restoration of the SMW3 cable system.

The cable ship completed the final Splice and tested Segment 3.3 with traffic normalised by 28 Sep 2018 1700 UTC.
